MSC Launches First Sustainable Seafood Awards for Canada and the US

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) has launched the inaugural MSC Sustainable Seafood Awards, designed to recognize and celebrate Canadian and US companies and individuals going above and beyond to ensure the sustainability of our seafood resources for the future. Applications and nominations are open through October 31, 2026.

The annual awards celebrate innovation, commitment, and measurable progress in advancing sustainable wild seafood across the supply chain. One winner from Canada and one winner from the US will be recognized in each category.

  • The award categories include:
  • MSC Sustainable Seafood Retailer of the Year
  • New MSC Certified Product of the Year
  • MSC Sustainable Seafood Business of the Year
  • MSC Fishery Improvement of the Year
  • MSC Changemaker of the Year
  • MSC Lifetime Achievement Award

MSC partners based in Canada and the US are eligible to apply, as well as individuals in both countries who have made significant contributions in support of MSC’s mission of promoting environmentally sustainable fishing and seafood.

Submissions should highlight activities and achievements completed or planned during the 2026 calendar year, unless otherwise specified. Applications will be reviewed by an external judging panel made up of seafood and sustainability experts, to be announced.

Winners will be announced in January 2027.
