Atlantas Marine have completed ROV inspection work on the semi submersible ‘Heydar Aliyev’ rig in the Caspian Sea, offshore from Azerbaijan.

The work was carried out by Atlantas Marine engineer and ROV pilot Mark Salter, whose task was to inspect a weld joint that measured 20 meters by 2 meters, and follows on from inspection work that Atlantas performed on the same area of interest 12 months ago. Working 80 feet above the water, Mark deployed the VideoRay Pro 4 ROV by hand, through hand rails, highlighting the portability and ease of deployment of the Pro 4.

Mark flew with the VideoRay ROV equipment into the international airport in Baku, before being helicoptered to and from the rig. The work was completed in a very competent and efficient manner, with client representative commenting that they were “very happy with the professional service, and are looking forward to working with Atlantas Marine in the future”
