The Oregon State University (OSU) Hatfield Marine Science Center invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term Research Facility Coordinator position. This position is located at the OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, OR. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Director.

 

The Research Facility Coordinator represents Oregon State University’s (OSU) Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC) to individuals and groups wishing to connect on a professional science level with HMSC’s research community and/or utilize research infrastructure. The Research Facility Coordinator, reporting to the HMSC Program Manager in the HMSC Director’s Office, will oversee and coordinate use of shared, unassigned research spaces by faculty, student and visiting researchers, track space usage and coordinate a wide range of facility uses. Relationship management is a key attribute of the position, as the Research Facility Coordinator will establish, manage and maintain relationships with HMSC leadership and facility users. These users include OSU faculty, invited distinguished faculty from international and national universities and marine labs, students and their advisors or instructors, and visiting researchers using the HMSC Experimental Seawater Facility (ESF) and other shared research space and equipment. The Coordinator’s research background will enable them to review protocols for safety and compliance and work with researchers to achieve compliance. The Coordinator will also assist and track professional visitors who use HMSC conference rooms, labs or offices including seminar speakers, international delegations, workshop participants and OSU groups.
