Insight Marine, a new Irish-headquartered engineering design and commercial advisory business, has launched to support offshore wind developers, transmission system operators, port owners, investors, contractors and supply-chain companies across the global maritime sector.

The company will focus on the offshore wind, subsea transmission and cable, and marine civil infrastructure sectors, helping clients address the technical, commercial and delivery challenges facing complex marine projects.

Founded by offshore industry veteran Paul Doherty, who brings more than 20 years’ experience across offshore wind, subsea cable installation and major port redevelopment projects, Insight Marine combines specialist engineering design capability with practical offshore delivery experience and commercial advisory insight.

From its base in County Wicklow, Ireland, Insight Marine will serve clients across Ireland, the UK, Europe and international markets.

“Marine and offshore projects are becoming more complex, more commercially exposed and more challenging to deliver,” said Paul Doherty, Founder and Managing Director of Insight Marine. “Insight Marine has been established to help clients cut through that complexity. We combine engineering depth with commercial insight so developers, ports, TSOs and supply-chain companies can make better decisions and reduce project risk.”

Doherty previously founded GDG, an international engineering consultancy focused on offshore wind and marine infrastructure. GDG grew to approximately 160 people and supported major projects across France, Germany, the UK and Southeast Asia before being acquired by Venterra Group in 2021. He subsequently served as Chief Commercial and Growth Officer at Venterra, a global offshore wind services business, where he was responsible for commercial growth, mergers and acquisitions, and new market entry.

Insight Marine provides engineering design, technical advisory and commercial support across offshore wind, subsea transmission and cable projects, ports and harbors, marine civil infrastructure, environmental and regulatory advisory, decommissioning, expert witness work and forensic engineering.

Its technical capabilities include advanced analysis, 3D modeling, finite element modeling, offshore foundation and substructure behavior, subsea cable analysis, marine infrastructure assessment and practical design support for offshore and coastal assets.

This technical depth is combined with commercial experience across project delivery, supply-chain strategy, market entry, mergers and acquisitions, international business development and offshore wind services growth.

“What makes Insight Marine different is the combination of engineering depth and commercial perspective,” said Doherty. “We are not looking at technical issues in isolation. We help clients understand what those issues mean for risk, cost, program, regulation, procurement and delivery.”

“Insight Marine builds on more than two decades of experience in offshore wind, marine infrastructure and international engineering consultancy,” said Doherty. “We are Irish-headquartered, but our outlook is global from day one.”

Although newly established, Insight Marine has already secured early assignments across ports and harbors, marine technology, expert witness and forensic analysis, and offshore decommissioning advisory. The company says this early activity reflects strong demand for specialist support that connects engineering design, technical insight and commercial understanding.

“Our ambition is to build a specialist marine engineering and advisory business from Ireland that supports clients globally,” said Doherty. “We want to help developers, ports, TSOs and supply-chain companies solve difficult project challenges, reduce risk and deliver better outcomes.”

Insight Marine is now engaging with developers, port operators, TSOs, asset owners and supply-chain organizations seeking engineering design, technical advisory and commercial support for offshore wind, subsea cable and marine infrastructure projects.
